Step into the magical fairy world of Jennifer Parker!

This Fairies course will teach you how to paint beautiful little characters for placement within face and body painting designs.

We’ll cover how to create simple anatomy in 3D to give your designs depth, and make your fairies ‘pop’.

Learn how to pose your fairy for ultimate placement and whimsical effect!

And finally, let your creativity run wild!  You’ll be encouraged to customise your fairy, as we explore some tried and tested solutions for making elegant wings, delicate clothing and floaty hairstyles.

Part 1: Thursday 1st October

Fairy fundamentals (demo)

• who is she?
• visual language – speaking fairy
• the ‘side profile trick’
• basic anatomy of the common or garden fairy
• proportions

The bones of it

• placement and design
• using a ‘stick man’ skeleton
• the 3D overlap trick
• posing your fairy: practice

Fleshing it out

• pressure stroke
• muscle tone
• silhouette practice
• skin colour
• shading for 3D figures

Part 2: Wednesday 7th October

Styles

• flower fairy (demo)
• vintage style (demo)
• model’s own
• colouring a look

Outfits

• leotard basics
• flower skirts and dresses
• tutus: the long and short of it
• transparency/shimmer
• shoes and slippers

Wings

• positioning
• size matters
• translucent wings
• one-stroke
• doubles and butterfly wings

Hair & makeup

• curls, waves, buns and pixie cuts
• simple mascara and lips
