Christmas Wrapped Up!
Christmas can be a busy and rewarding time for face painters – but how do you get those gigs?
Corporate Events: Reach out to local companies – simply email and ask! They will have big evening office staff parties and also morning children’s parties. Remember to put yourself in their shoes: What do they need to make their party a success? Offer solutions and make it easy for them to book you.
Get on agency books: many large office parties are booked through event agencies – particularly in larger cities. Contact them with professional photos of your work to increase your chances.
Christmas Shoppers: contact town centres, garden centres and chain stores directly. Send a well-crafted email, introducing yourself and explaining how your services can enhance their customer experience.
Christmas Markets: Contact local councils or event organizers to see if they need face painting or balloons.
Charity events: You might also find opportunities with charity events and church gatherings. For instance, I regularly volunteer at the Great Ormond Street Hospital Christmas party – consider a charity that you can support annually.
Christmas craft fairs: these tend to be less lucrative (they often draw an older crowd without children), but they can still be fun if you have nothing else on, especially if you have a selling table with extras like glitter tattoos, bling, or small crafts. Plus, it’s a great chance to network locally and paint other stall holders!
Social Media and Online Ads: Use Facebook, Instagram, and local community groups to promote your services. Post festive designs, tag local businesses, and create special holiday offers. Check how often you are allowed to post advertising. Also check in the Events section on Facebook.
Work on your sales pitch: your language matters! If you’re unsure about how to present yourself, don’t hesitate to get help with your messaging, whether it’s from a friend or an AI tool.
Be proactive! With the right approach and a little hustle, you really can start to get some great gigs booked in. Start reaching out now, and you’ll be well on your way to a successful and busy Christmas!
