What is Steampunk?
… a creative fusion of Victorian-era aesthetics and futuristic elements, inspired by steam-powered machinery – a genre which evokes a nostalgic sense of “a world that never was”.
- intricate gears, clocks, and metallic designs
- natural materials like wood and leather
- Victorian fashion with a twist – top hats, goggles, waistcoats, chokers, black lace and fishnet stockings
- bronze, copper, gold, and silver
It’s essential to focus on detailed line work and shading, creating a textured, mechanical appearance on the skin. Adding accents like rivets, pipes, and cogwheels enhances the steampunk vibe.
It’s easy to see why steampunk is a popular theme for face and body painters – but achieving an authentic look can be challenging!
That’s why you need
