Ready to unleash your inner monster? Enter this monstrous two-part competition, designed so that everyone can join in the fun. Whether you’re new to face painting or a seasoned pro, this is all about celebrating creativity and imagination.
What’s a Monster Mash-up?
It’s where two worlds collide! Take any two ideas – like a princess and a skull, a disco vibe and a vampire, or even a puppy and a zombie – and smash them together into one wild, original face paint creation. The crazier, creepier or more unexpected the combo, the better.
We’re calling it the Monster Mash-up, but how you bring it to life is totally up to you. Surprise us. Scare us. Make us laugh. Just make it unforgettable.
Two categories:
Newbies – just starting out or still finding your style
Open – more experienced painters who love a challenge
Two parts:
Part 1 – Design Concept (15th – 28th Sept)
Share your monster mash ideas in their rawest form! Sketches, doodles, word lists, brainstorming notes, or even scribbles on a napkin – we want to see your process.
Judging of this part of the comp will focus on imagination and originality, not polish.
Part 2 – Final Design (29th Sept – 12th Oct)
Bring your monster mash creation to life and show us the finished masterpiece!
Entries will be judged on:
- Originality (how creative the mash-up is)
- Execution (painting skills, neatness, clarity of design)
- Consistency with concept (how well the ideas from Part 1 have been translated into a design)
This is your chance to experiment, play, and bring out your most frightfully fun designs. Who’s ready to mash some monsters?
You’ll need to post your design in the Face Painters Support Group on Facebook – so your first step is to join that group if you haven’t already!
How to enter
Post your entry in the appropriate album in the Face Painters Support Group – make sure you post in the right category (Newbies or Open) and right phase of the competition (Design Concept or Final Design)
Prizes
1st prize in each category = Juliet Eve Collection set of brushes (worth £56.50) or $60 Facepaint.com voucher
2nd prize in each category = set of reusable bamboo wipes plus storage bags or $30 Facepaint.com voucher

Competition Rules
- New designs only – created specifically for this challenge
- Your design can be painted on a real model (on the face), on a board or on paper
- One final design entry per person
- Post your entry in the appropriate album on the Face Painters Support Group
- Your final design must be posted by Sunday 12th October 2025 at 23:59 UK time
- The winners will be announced on the Support Group on Wednesday 15th October
