Bath Bodyart Weekend
This weekend event has rightly cemented itself at the very forefront of the face and bodyart calendar in the UK.
Why is it special?
It’s the genuinely friendly and relaxed atmosphere that prevails because of the wonderful people that run it. The kind and welcoming personalities of Helen, Clemency and Sophie frame the whole event. And the professional way it’s run makes it a resounding success for everyone! It’s really affordable as well and designed for the whole family.
It’s a camping weekend, so has a proper festival feel about it and the most wonderful excellent home-made quality healthy food (oh and pizza!) thanks to Annie and her team – and don’t forget the bar! You can glamp it up if you prefer in the beautiful bell tents.
Not only a feel-good venue, but exciting as well – there is always a buzz during the body painting day, as everyone makes a huge effort with their designs. This year I felt the standard was truly exceptional – there were some top-class ideas being paraded on the cat walk.
This year I only went on the Saturday for the body painting competition and did a small demo of a butterfly on the chest and added lots of circles, lines and angles to go with this year’s theme, Natural Geometry.
But there’s loads more going on for children too, plus lots of paint workshops and retailers. They always pull in a few top instructors –this year Matteo Arfanotti was the star attraction, demonstrating how to make foam headdresses. Then there is the life drawing class, the Drag Race with a competition for the best drag make-up, face painting and glitter competitions too.
In the evenings there are other fun happenings – funny bingo, bands playing, a disco and much more!
As FAM Club, I love to support the BBW, so I gave away lots of goodies as prizes to the winners of the various competitions. I was over the moon to see that FAM Club member Bex Ghazhazi won first place in the Open Body Painting competition!
Bath Bodyart Weekend is well worth adding to your face and body painting event calendar – do try to get there next year! I’ve already put it in my diary!
